Home on Pleasant Hill Road

My brother Wally and I grew up in a lot of places. The one though that marks our strongest, fondest memories, was on Pleasant Hill Road, just ouside of Jena, Louisiana. Our Grandma's house. We call it home. Wally wrote a song about it and I'm happy to share it with you.

Home on Pleasant Hill Road

If the cover photo, of the house on the hill, looks familiar, well, it should. It's making it's second appearance, here on my blog and this one fits it perfectly.

While my brother Wally and I grew up in a lot of places, our formative, years, if you will, were cast out in the country, on top of a hill, at our Grandma's house. We were surrounded by literally, thousands of acres of Georgia-Pacific owned wooded property, of which, virtually every inch, we explored. The house on the hill was built sometime around 1930ish (it has since been razed in the past few years), on Pleasant Hill Road.

My brother took it upon himself to write a song about this place and folks, I have to tell you. I've listened to this song several times now and each and every time, it tugs at a new string it's found in my heart. The cherished memories come flooding and I wouldn't trade them for all the money in the world.

Thank you brother, for the song and allowing me to share it. Grandma would be proud.
