The Fork in the Road

You're at the fork. A choice must be made. Whom do you ask?

The Fork in the Road

So, a buddy of mine and I got into a discussion about religion. Now, understand that, yes, he's a friend and no, I'm not truly certain where he stands in the area of belief. I mean, he says he's a believer and he may be, it's just that he's quite contradictory in some ways, so I just keep him lifted in prayer.

Anyway, we were engaged in a discussion and he asked me "what about all the other religions out there?"
I replied, "what about them?"

"What makes yours (note: not ours but "yours") the 'right one' and all the others the wrong one?"

Folks, I never know which way something is going with him, I just know that I not only need to provide an answer but the answer must be truthful and as straightforward as possible. So, as in a similar and previous engagement with him, I quickly and quietly said a prayer asking for direction.

I said "well, let me ask you this. If you were walking down a road, looking for a specific location and you came to a fork in the road, you stop to think about which way to go."

"While standing there, pondering, you see two guys lying there. One of them is obviously dead and the other one is as obviously alive. Which one are you going to ask for directions from?"

He cocked his head and looked at me rather quizzically and said, "well, I darn sure am not going to waste my time with the dead guy, I'm going to follow what the live one says."

I smiled and replied, "it's really that simple. My God Lives. And I follow Him."

Folks, it's not rocket science 'cause if it was, I'd be as lost as lost can be. He gave us the ability and the freedom to choose. That choice is ours to make.

If you're reading this and find yourself wondering "can He, would He save me? I've really not led a good life."

Congratulations. You are just what He's looking for. You see, the "perfect ones" don't need Him and what He has to offer.
